Aside from the controls, they haven't aged all that badly. I was actually surprised that the majority of the MGS games run at 60FPS on the 6th gen consoles.

I wanted to try MGS1 on the PS1, but I don't have a Playstation controller available for emulation and playing games where the button prompts don't add up annoys me. So now I'm here to play the older titles. I enjoyed it mechanically, but from a story perspective, I had no clue what was going on. You must be a pretty hardcore fan of the game considering you're putting so much effort into everything I played Ground Zeroes recently, that was my first Metal Gear game.

I just assumed it was because of the age of the game. Your HD texture pack looks like good stuff I didn't actually notice the stretching originally. Annoying, but at least I now know that it's not Dolphin. I had a feeling that that might just be poor coding. Switching to DirectX fixed the bug, thanks! It runs a bit worse than OpenGL, but turning down the IR a bit helped fix that. Note: I've only gotten as far as the Heliport though, when it comes to environment retextures I mean. If you just wanted to use only the new icons and User Interface stuff, you can easily just delete all the other folders and get only those. If you're interested in playing the game with nicer textures, I have a HD texture pack on the forums here: I'm using version 5359 and its fine there for the codec. That cutscene bug also happens with the cutscene sequence that plays before the title screen too, it really is just bad coding it seems. If you go a few posts back in the thread you'll see a few screenshots from me about that issue, turns out it also happened on the gamecube too. The games also got a lot of stretched (I mean CRAZY stretched) textures here and there. The Codec thing, used ot happen to me too, I use DX11 and all seems fine for me.Īs for the area appearing quickly before the cutscene, this actually happened on the gamecube too, Its just a shitty bug due to shitty programming it seems, I saw it on a bunch of lets play. Let me know if you want the rest of my settings. The last 3d area will flash on the screen, the cutscene will play, there will be another flash and then I'll be able to continue playing. There's this jarring flash of color, usually pink or green, then the codex opens. Basically, whenever I use the codex, it doesn't fade in naturally like it should.

I don't have the time to find out exactly which version broke it, but there's a starting point. Glad I'm not the only one whose having the problem. I've not tried any versions between 5359 (where it works great) and the newest so I can't say exactly what revision broke it myself. This happens on Disc 1 & 2 of both the NTSC and PAL versions of the game.

The emulator doesn't crash and become unresponsive or close, but the game itself is frozen at the Konami Logo. I'm using the NTSC version of the game.Įdit: Game works fine on Dolphin 4.0-5390.Ĭan confirm this. The game works decently on the 4.0-3669 build however.ĭoes anyone know how I can fix this problem? The game plays the Konami intro, then freezes.
